Bread and Cereals
This group of foodstuffs contains energy and protein, but lacks sufficient vitamin, iron, zinc and calcium. Therefore, they should be supplemented by consuming other groups of foodstuffs.
It is noteworthy that whole cereals, including bran, affect digestion of foodstuffs because they contain dietary fiber. But they should not be over-consumed as they contain phytate that lowers absorption of iron, zinc and calcium contents of foodstuffs. To lower phytate content, cereals may be used in form of germ, like wheatgrass, sprout of mung bean, etc.
